The Prophet (ﷺ) said,“When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (continuing charity), knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him” [Sahih Muslim]

Few Words About Us
History of Center

It may be fate, or it may be coincidence, but it is surely highly appropriate that the building which now houses the South London Islamic Centre should have started life some 100 years ago as a fire station.

It was then a protection and a safeguard for the local community against the threat of fire in this world; it now offers protection to the same community against the danger of fire in the Hereafter.

South London Islamic Centre, also commonly referred to as Streatham Mosque, is a well-established Masjid and Islamic Centre. Since it’s founding, it has taken seriously the spiritual and academic well-being of the Muslim community. We always strongly encourage and advocate the unity and brotherhood of the Muslim Ummah and have always made the Centres facilities available to all Muslim societies and organisations. South London Islamic Centre has been, and will be, an important and major focus of Muslim activity in South London Insha’Allah and a source of peace and security to the Muslim community.

Notice

Assalamu Alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu,

We have good news to share, Alhamdulillah.

Although the demolition works in the rear courtyard have created challenges, we have been working hard to find a safe and practical way to reopen SLIC for prayers. Just as we managed during Covid, we are confident that with clear guidance and everyone’s cooperation, we can accommodate the community safely once again.

SLIC will reopen for prayers from Fajr tomorrow morning, InshaAllah.
Salah times will remain as normal according to the calendar and website.

Important:

– Capacity for maximum 350 people per Salah (once we reach 350, we will close the doors).
– Bring your own shoe bag to keep shoes with you.
– Covid rules applied: Toilets & Wudhu Areas will remain closed so please arrive with wudhu.
– Rules apply to all daily salahs as well as both jummahs.
– MADRASAH REMAINS ONLINE.
– Brothers hall open only
– courtyard entrance will remain closed
– enter through door at front of side hall (this will be opened by site supervisor at Salah times)

These rules are essential for everyone’s safety. If guidelines are ignored or safety is compromised, we will be forced to close again until December 24th as previously advised.

We kindly ask everyone to follow instructions, cooperate with volunteers, and help us maintain a safe environment.

May Allah protect our community, accept your patience, and make this redevelopment a source of long-term khayr for generations to come. Ameen.
