SLIC Planning Update – 22nd March 2022

Alhamdulillaah, by the grace, mercy and will of Allah SWT South London Islamic Centre’s planning application was granted permission. Lambeth Council’s Planning Application Committee met on the 15th March 2022 and unanimously voted to approve the planning application subject to some conditions.

SLIC would like to thank everyone for the support, help and patience and du`aas in getting to this very important milestone. The next step of the journey will be to raise funds and start the building project. The new centre will provide new prayer facilities, a café, meeting halls, classrooms, gymnasium, inter-faith library, funeral services and a creche. A key driver of the design is to promote inter-faith dialogue and create a welcoming environment for the whole community whatever their religious beliefs.

The key members of the project team to get to this momentous occasion are Atelier UWA, Mayer Brown and Boyer Planning. Their professionalism, dedication and the ability to build relationships with the Council were key to getting the planning application approved.
